RYA Intermediate Powerboat Day Cruising Course
The aim of the RYA Intermediate course is to teach powerboating up to the standard required to complete a short coastal passage by day. It is an ideal course for those more experienced powerboaters looking to extend their horizons and an ideal build up towards the Advanced Powerboat Course. It is also worhwhile considering doing the Essential Naviagtion and Safety shorebased course as well.

| Assumed knowledge |
Minimum age 16. Candidates should be competent to the standard of National Powerboat Certificate Level 2 with the coastal endorsement. It is recommended that candidates hold a First Aid Certificate and a Marine Radio Operators Certificate. |
| Course content |
A progression from Level 2, introducing pilotage, traditional & electronic navigation and boat handling techniques for planing boats on coastal waters by day. |
| Ability after course |
Able to plan and execute short coastal passages by day. Ability to pick up a man overboard in varying conditions. |
| Duration |
Two days. Each day is a mix of theory followed by on-the-water practical application |
