RYA Power Boat Level 1 and 2
Introduction to boating techniques for launching and recovering a boat from a road trailer, everyday boat handling and the use of safety equipment. Provides the skills and background knowledge needed by the competent powerboat driver and Level 2 is the basis of the International Certificate of Competence for a powered vessel up to 10 metres.
The RYA Powerboat Level 2 course is the corner stone of the powerboat scheme and is completed over 2 days. Although much of the course is conducted on the water, the student is also introduced to charts, basic navigation skills including a basic knowledge of GPS and the effect of wind and tide.
Depending on experience, it is possible to have a direct assessment. The candidate should have the equivalent of at least one full season’s powerboat handling experience. The candidate must be able to demonstrate competence in all aspects of the syllabus for the coastal endorsement.
